Values of Mainzer Comic Cat Postcards

As I write this there are 111 Mainzer cat postcards for auction on Ebay. Many, if not most, are cards which were printed in Turkey. These are new cards and do not have the same value as the older ones which were printed in Belgium. Few seem to get bids.

You only need to look at a few auctions to realize many sellers have only a vague idea of what they have or how to describe it. They don't use the right words and force a buyer to fight for the key information. I think there are some opportunities to profit from accurate, detailed descriptions.

Price is a function of rarity of the card and where it was printed. Shipping costs also seem to be a factor. Much seems to be a matter of chance. There is frequently only one bid so the sellers who set a higher starting price benefit. It will take some research to determine the right balance between listing higher and selling fewer vs listing so all sell the first time around.

 

Advertising memorabilia

Cooper Hardware Co. in New York state apparently used a variety of paper items as advertising. I was able to find a matchbook from them for sale on Ebay and this card has their advertising printed on it.
